Alongside the Munich Security Conference 2026, Ahead is convening a roundtable focused on how artificial intelligence is reshaping diplomacy, global governance and international security:
Rethinking Diplomacy and Governance in an Era of Disorder: Artificial Intelligence as a Geopolitical Force
Artificial intelligence is fast becoming a geopolitical instrument. While the European Union has taken a global lead in regulation through the AI Act, implementation risks falling behind ambition, constrained by limited computing capacity, insufficient investment, fragile international alliances and a growing skills gap. As diplomacy struggles to keep pace with technological change, diplomats are increasingly required to navigate AI procurement, cybersecurity and digital power as core elements of modern statecraft.
The discussion brings together seasoned experts and next-generation leaders to examine the implications of emerging technologies for statecraft, decision-making and global order. By convening diplomats, policymakers and technology leaders, the roundtable creates space for informed exchange and the development of practical, consensus-based approaches to integrating AI into governance and diplomatic frameworks, positioning the EU as both a regulatory authority and influential geopolitical actor in the age of artificial intelligence.
The roundtable is realized in partnership with the European Parliament Liason Office in Munich and Bitsight and knowledge partners, the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Esya Centre. It will take place at the European Parliament Liason Office.
